Epi Watch
UI | UX DESIGN
Epi is a seizure detection app for epileptic patients who are looking for a way to receive prompt help during their seizures and keep a record of the details related to their epileptic episode.
OUR PROBLEM
During a seizure it can be difficult or impossible to get the help you need. It is common that you can’t remember the details of your seizure if you know you had one at all. In the event of a grand mal seizure, you have little control in the moment over who is notified to help. We want to give our users control over their situation, their network and their symptoms before, during, and after a seizure.
OUR SOLUTION
DETECT: Epi uses the Apple Watch to detect the event of a seizure, its time and duration, and your heart rate.
NOTIFY: Epi can notify your set emergency contacts during the event of a seizure with your location. If the seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes, the app can notify an ambulance.
LOG: Epi records the details of your seizures so you can access them and see trends over time.
USER RESEARCH
What triggers a seizure? “For me it is dehydration, sleep deprivation, and stress”
“Having an app that could keep and organize all this information would be invaluable.”
“It would be nice to alert someone who could come help me.”
WATCH CAPABILITIES
The Apple Watch detects seizures, tracks heart rate during a seizure, provides a glance for triggers, enables users to assign emergency contacts, snooze seizure detection, and manually time seizures.
IPHONE CAPABILITIES
The iPhone enables users to log into their account, access their seizure details in the log, set emergency contacts, and manage their personal preferences in the settings.
